Raising the roof in Richmond

Shearwater House is a Grade A office building which has been extended to level 4 and undergone a refurbishment of all the other floors to provide circa 11,500ft2 of high quality office accommodation within the sought-after location of The Green in Richmond. Watkins Payne provided the building services consultancy and BREEAM assessor duties.

The main challenges involved remodelling the core of the building to introduce a new lift and provide enhanced toilet facilities.

A detailed review of the existing base build plant’s condition established that its retention would offer the most suitable commercial value to the client.

The existing variable refrigerant (VRF) outdoor plant has been relocated to clear the roof for the level 4 extension which was provided with new heat recovery VRF heating and comfort cooling system.
