Energy for Offices

Independent Design Review

The Independent Design Review (IDR) is a vital part of delivering a NABERS UK Energy for Offices Target Rating through the Design for Performance (DfP) process. As a member of the NABERS UK Independent Design Review Panel our Principal Building Performance Engineer Robert Marshall brings expertise and insight to every review.

When to start

It is recommended that the IDR is conducted during Stage 4 design. However, considerable additional value may be achieved by engaging with the Reviewer to undertake a preliminary review during Stage 3 design or earlier.

What to expect

The review is conducted over 8 to 12 weeks, with a briefing workshop after receiving the information pack. You can expect the draft review report to follow within 4 to 6 weeks of the briefing workshop. Upon receipt of the draft report, the design team will issue responses to the various recommendations and findings before a debriefing workshop. The debriefing workshop will run through the various recommendations and agree to any updates to the design team information ahead of a final review. After receipt of the updated information, the review report will be finalised, with successful reviews supporting their target ratings and unsuccessful reviews requiring targets to be lowered or designs to be updated before proceeding further.
