Racing to a great future

The Thameside town of Abingdon, once famously the home of British sports car manufacturer MG, now has a new attraction. The former Oxford Abingdon Hotel has become the latest Hilton Garden Inn, undergoing an extension and total refurbishment to move up a gear with artwork and exhibits that reflect the heritage of the MG brand.

The majority of the original tired structure has been demolished and replaced by a new four storey building incorporating reception, extensive meeting and function spaces, kitchen, restaurant and new bedrooms, complementing the fully refurbished existing bedrooms and bringing the total to 146.

All new engineering services were installed over several phases, allowing the retained bedrooms to be available during the redevelopment process.

Energy efficiency is key to any business, and the new Hilton Garden Inn is no exception. Air source heat pumps, LED lighting, smart controls and an all-electric kitchen contribute to a relaxing sustainable environment.
